People often have personas that fulfill important roles and they often have little to do with the person. I don't know Michael Moore personally so I don't think about how I feel about "him". I've liked some of his films but not all. I don't dig they way he uses the ambush sometimes. All that said, I think he fulfills an important social function. We need a few Chicken Littles telling us the sky is falling, sometimes it really is.
John Lennon is a huge, important symbol for many people, but the man who preached "no possessions" and sang "all we need is love" was a millionaire that routinely hit his girlfriends. Go figure.
