When culture kills

Yesterday at work I brought up Christo's Ubrellas and the fact that a viewer was killed by the project.

Two people died during the construction and exhibition. A woman, Laurie Mathews, was killed when one of the screens hit her because of a wind gust, and a man, Masaaki Nakamura, was fatally electrocuted while removing umbrellas when he came into contact with a high voltage power line. (From Wikipedia)

I see in the news today that culture has struck again: Cannon explodes during salute, killing two

From July 2006
Two killed as artwork 'lifts off'
Two people have been killed and 13 injured after a giant, inflatable sculpture blew free from its moorings.
